Blow Off Some Steam at Train Song Festival

Old Poway Park will host the annual Train Song Festival on Saturday.

Got a thing for trains? Then you’ll want to be at on April 28.

The city of Poway, and the Old Poway Park Action Committee are presenting the annual this Saturday. The free community day, which runs from noon-8 p.m. includes live music and storytellers inspired by the history and culture surrounding trains and railroads.

Guests will learn about the evolution of trains, including the history and turn-of-the-century innovations. There will also be railroad music to accompany the day and a picnic in the park, storytellers, model-A cars and more. You can even learn how to play the banjo at the frontier musician camp!

For a fee, train-lovers can climb aboard a car pulled by Old Cantankerous, a 1907 Steam Engine, at Old Poway Park and take a ride through history. Train robberies and encounters with some Western gunslingers may ensue!

The will coincide so guests can experience the American Arts and Crafts movement. Food and crafts will be available for purchase.

This Western day is free. Visit Old Poway Park on April 28 from noon-8 p.m. for all the steam-engine fun.
