Auditions Being Held at PowPAC for New Production

"A Body of Water," by Lee Blessing, will hit the Poway stage in September and auditions are being held this week for three main characters.

Were you born to be on the stage? Poway's Community Theater, PowPAC, is hosting a new production and the director is looking for local talent to fill open spots.

A Body of Water, by Lee Blessing, will hit the Poway stage in September and auditions are being held this week for three main characters.

Director Mary L. Smith is holding the auditions tonight, July 22 and July 23 from 7-9 p.m. at the theater, located at 13250 Community Road.

According to PowPAC's Facebook page, the play follows the story of Moss and Avis, an attractive, middle-aged couple who wake up one morning in an isolated summer house high above a picturesque body of water. The only problem? Neither of them can remember who they are. A young woman named Wren arrives and provides the couple with information, but is it enough to help the couple?

All three main characters are looking to be cast:

  • Avis (45-60), amnesia victim. Moss’ wife.
  • Moss (45-60), amnesia victim. Avis’ husband.
  • Wren (20-29), mysterious “companion/caretaker” of Moss and Avis.
Those interested in audition must make an appointment with Smith by emailing marylousmith2001@cox.net. Auditions will consist of "cold readings from the script" and while head shots and résumés are appreciated, they are not necessary.

You can find callback information and performance dates at PowPAC's Facebook page.

The production is also looking for volunteers for all tech positions and running crew for the show.
