30 Under 30 San Diego County Leader No. 1: Kath Rogers

A passion for all things living makes Rogers Patch's first 30 Under 30 Leader.

A belief that all beings deserve fair treatment has carried Kath Rogers far.

Rogers, 26, is the co-founder of Animal Protection and Rescue League—a nonprofit devoted to protecting the rights of animals and preventing cruelty. And Rogers is living the dream.

"I believe that all animals, including those raised for food, deserve humane treatment," she said. "I have my dream job, and I get to see progress being made for animals every day—victories for wildlife, seals, farm animals, you name it."

Despite having made an impact in the lives of many, Rogers considers herself the lucky one.

"My colleagues at APRL and the volunteers I work with every day inspire me with their positivity, dedication and selflessness," said Rogers, who noted she is inspired by many leaders including former city of San Diego Councilwoman Donna Frye and her mentor, Nicole Capretz. "I am lucky to work with talented and dedicated people who share my passion, and together we have achieved major victories for animals."

Advice for young people:

"If you are in San Diego, join organizations like the New Leaders Council (cannot recommend this group enough!) to network with like-minded and ambitious young people. The opportunities for brainstorming, networking and collaboration are limitless."
