If you are looking to get into the wine business or are simply a wine enthusiast, now is the time to start taking courses at SDSU’s College of Extended Studies.
Exploring Wine, which is the required introductory course in the Professional Certificate in the Business of Wine program through the College, will take place Mondays, August 20-Sept. 24, 6-9 pm.
Instructor Lisa Redwine has earned the status of an advanced sommelier, the second-highest distinction possible by the Court of Sommeliers. Redwine, only the second woman in San Diego County to become an advanced sommelier, is the food and beverage manager for The Marine Room and the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
The Exploring Wine class takes students on a journey around the world of wine. Topics covered include: history, grape varietals, viticulture, language and labeling, and tastings, as well as guest speakers from the wine industry who offer their expertise.
The course serves as an overview of the role and influence of wine in history and today's culture, a foundation for further wine education. Students must be 21 years of age to register for this program.
To receive the best price available, students are encouraged to register early. Cost of the course is $299 or $329 after August 13.
