Three Places to Celebrate the Fourth of July in Poway

Celebrate Independence this Wednesday at these three Poway locations.

Celebrate America’s birthday on Wednesday at these three Poway locations. Show your patriotic spirit and enjoy this summer holiday with remembrance, games and music.

• There will be a morning Independence Day Celebration from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at . The free event includes the presentation of the South Wall of Honor, cannon firing at 11 a.m. and a birthday cake. For more information, contact Veterans Park Committee Chair Don Stonecipher at (858) 964-8115.

• Spend the entire day at the from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at . The free family event—in “turn-of-the-20th-century-style”—features live music, children’s crafts, games and train rides. There will also be iron-working demonstrations, mock gun-fighting shows and train robbery re-enactments.

Storyteller Charles Johnson will be at the gazebo stage for a patriotic music lineup:

Picnic-style food and treats—such as ice cream, apple pie, roasted corn on the cob and hot dogs—will be available for sale. For more information, call (858) 668-4579 or visit the city of Poway’s website.

• Poway High School will host a from 7 to 10 p.m. at their . The gates open at 7 p.m. and the firework show begins at 9 p.m. The event includes deejay music and games. Blanket and bleacher seating will be available.

The cost is $2, but free for children 11 years and under with a paid adult. Parking at Lake Poway costs $5 for non-Poway residents. A free shuttle will run between the stadium and Lake Poway.
