Poway Resident Wins $10K in 'Dream House Raffle'

Poway's Cay Bohnsack was one of five cash prize winners.

Cay Bohnsack of Poway has won $10,000 in an early bird drawing for a charity raffle, and could still win a $3.2 million house in Rancho Santa Fe.

The annual Dream House Raffle, which benefits the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, awards "early bird" cash prizes to raffle ticket purchasers as an incentive to enter the drawing sooner. Organizers announced Wednesday that Bohnsack was one of five winners, taking home the top prize of $10,000. Three others won $1,000 and one person, a Los Angeles woman, was awarded $5,000.

Raffle tickets are $150 in the drawing for a 7,700 square-foot Rancho Santa Fe home with a 1,500-bottle wine room, pool and spa.

“But to us at the Ronald McDonald House, the most important thing about the raffle is the impact it makes on the families staying with us and our ability to continue providing support and care to the families of hospitalized children,” Chuck Day, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, said in a statement.

The charity offers a " 'home away from home' to families with children being treated for serious, often life-threatening conditions at local hospitals."
