New Report Shows Home Sales Drop Sharply in San Diego County

The number of single-family homes sold in May 2011 was down 13.8 percent from May 2010, according to a new report.

1. The last steel beam for the Terminal 2 expansion project at Lindbergh Field was installed Wednesday. A "topping out'' ceremony drew about 200 people, including elected officials, representatives of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, as well as business and community leaders.

2. A former Navy man stationed in San Diego pleaded guilty Wednesday to a federal cyberstalking charge for making hundreds of calls to a woman's phone and tracking her through GPS technology after she made clear their relationship was over. Michael F. Lutz, 29, entered his plea before U.S. District Judge Larry
Burns. The defendant faces up to five years in federal prison, with sentencing scheduled for Sept. 19.

3. The number of houses and condominiums sold in May in San Diego County dropped sharply compared to the same month last year, and median prices also tumbled, the San Diego Association of Realtors announced Wednesday. The number of single-family homes sold in May 2011 was down 13.8 percent from May 2010, according to association statistics. Condominium sales dropped 19.5 percent in the same period.
