Chris Brown Disrespects Himself by Sexting Nude Photo

Leaked nude photo may haunt singer and family for years to come.

WTF yourself, Chris Brown.

Friday night while surfing the Net, I unfortunately clicked on a photo of Brown’s complete frontal nudity, courtesy of the embattled singer’s ex-girlfriend.

Brown’s physique aside, the photo made me cringe. I felt embarrassed to have seen the photo sent unwittingly while sexting. Did I say “unwittingly”? What I meant was “stupidly.”

After the image was leaked to WorldStarHipHop, Brown tweeted, “WTF!!! Here we go!!!”

Brown is 21 years old. He was on top of the charts when he was arrested in 2009 for physically abusing another ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, who seems to struggle with her own issues. (You’d think a victim of domestic violence would avoid singing a duet with Eminem containing the lyrics: “Just gonna stand there and watch me burn/But that’s alright because I like the way it hurts/Just gonna stand there and hear me cry/But that’s alright because I love the way you lie.” Oy.)

At that time, I thought, “This guy’s finished. He’s this generation’s Ike Turner.”

Ah, but Brown is lucky to live in a time where the public craves constant drama and has a short memory for misgivings. Forget second chances – we’ll give you third, fourth and even fifth chances.

It helps that Brown is a talented young man with an equally talented team backing his musical pursuits. I admit I just purchased Brown’s song, “Yeah 3x,” and burned it to CD so I could play and re-play it while driving.

Now I’d just like to burn the CD.

I can’t listen to it without thinking about the unattractive image of Brown taking a photo of himself in a bathroom.

You have to wonder whether Brown ever plans on having kids. Children begin using laptops at around 8 years old; the damage done by seeing one’s parent in such a pose would be worth years of therapy.

As a mom, there are things I’d rather my daughter not see, such as me in seventh grade with braces, a bad perm and mismatched clothes or weird photos depicting me in unflattering positions, such as shoving a Krispy Kreme in my pie hole while bloated and pregnant.

I can’t imagine what it would be like to have a photo of me in my birthday suit floating around in cyberspace. Quinn’s humiliation would be palpable.

For me, if there was a naked image of one of my parents online, it would be vomit-inducing. I don’t care how great they look, it would totally gross me out. Just the thought makes me want to run for the hills.

Granted, if the photo were of a painting artfully done, it might be less disturbing, but a sexted image would give me the heebie-jeebies.

And the thing about sexting is these images never really go away. Once they go viral, they can be found in a high school student’s laptop, a coffee shop patron’s iPad or a businessperson’s PDA.

Many teens know better than Brown when it comes to sending incriminating images to friends and lovers. San Diego law enforcement agencies have expanded their community outreach by offering more presentations targeting parents’ awareness of similar issues confronting their teens.

In January, and PTSA had to postpone a workshop by the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the San Diego Police Foundation to educate parents and guardians about children’s Internet use. It may be an appropriate time to reschedule the workshop and add the dangers of sexting to the agenda.

Brown may be an adult, but his actions are more like those of an irresponsible child.

In the end, it comes down to respect.

As part of his treatment pleading guilty for felony assault, Brown had to attend domestic violence counseling, where I’m sure he learned to respect women. Perhaps he needs to take another class to learn to respect himself.
