Satisfying Poway's sweet tooth has served Sandy Patag and Arlene Clattenburg well.

Patag and Clattenburg, owners of the winning Best Desserts in Poway business In The Mix Yogurt, opened their shop 3 and a half years ago.

"My sister and I wanted to start our own business together," said Patag. "We also loved eating yogurt, so we decided to combine the two for our business."

The pair, who grew up in Poway, said it was easy to choose the "City in the Country" because of their love for the area.

And despite the challenges they've faced, Patag said passion has helped them succeed.

"It’s not easy being a small business owner, but if it’s something you are passionate about and love, then you will automatically work hard to be successful," she said.
